Schools in South Africa are not preparing learners well enough for future jobs, says Centennial Schools, which has strongly embraced AI.

Traditional education in South Africa has deteriorated in its hesitance to transform for far too long and this has created a schooling system that churns out “largely unemployable matriculants who lack the essential skills needed for today’s economy,” says founder of Sandton-based Centennial Schools, entrepreneur Shaun Fuchs.

“The education system has a critical role to play in supporting our increasingly skills-intensive labour market by better-matching supply and demand,” says Fuchs. However, it is essential for learners, as well as anyone now in the age of AI – whether the technology is a trend or whether it will be with us for the remainder of time, to understand its limitations. That’s where Centennial comes in.
