Thrawn and Ezra Bridger were both sent through hyperspace by purrgil in the series finale of Star Wars Rebels to an undisclosed region, leaving Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren to search for them once the Galactic Empire fell.
Grand Admiral Thrawn was originally a character from the Star Wars Expanded Universe, Lucasfilm’s initial continuity before its rebranding as the alternate Legends timeline. Rebels reimagined him slightly for the new canon, though he remains one of the Star Wars galaxy’s most brilliant and competent military leaders, making him a major threat to even the Rebellion best and brightest.
Grand Admiral Thrawn Is Officially An Extragalactic Threat As revealed in the second episode of Ahsoka, Thrawn was sent to Peridea, a location in another galaxy that is known to the Nightsisters of Dathomir and the Jedi Order. Morgan Elsbeth plans to travel to Peridea and bring Thrawn back to the main Star Wars galaxy, but the Grand Admiral will no doubt return with knowledge and experiences that may give him an advantage over the rest of the Star Wars galaxy’s inhabitants.
Ahsoka Is The Most Important Star Wars Story Since George Lucas' Prequel Trilogy Ahsoka is hardly the first time that the Star Wars franchise has ventured beyond the main galaxy. In the Legends continuity, there are dwarf galaxies that are close enough to the main galaxy to allow travel between them.
