Marvel Studios' upcoming Agatha: Coven of Chaos will return to Westview, as the town deals with the legacy of the Scarlet Witch after WandaVision. The MCU's Phase 4 kicked off with WandaVision on Disney+, which saw Elizabeth Olsen return as Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. the Scarlet Witch, imprisoning the entire community of Westview, New Jersey in her grief-stricken, sitcom-style alternate reality.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Even though the Scarlet Witch removed her Hex at the end of WandaVision, and freed Westview's residents, her legacy will surely be one of trauma and pain, which is something that Agatha: Coven of Chaos can explore. Several Westview residents are returning in Agatha: Coven of Chaos, with actors including Debra Jo Rupp, Emma Caulfield Ford, David Payton, David Lengel, and Asif Ali reprising their roles from WandaVision.
WandaVision was presented to viewers from Wanda's perspective, but when seen through the eyes of Westview's residents, the storyline is drastically altered. The residents of Westview surely see Wanda as nothing more than a villain, and though they might understand her pain over losing everything, they feel imprisoned, trapped, and tormented by the Scarlet Witch.
Coven Of Chaos Could See Agatha Become A Real MCU Hero The WandaVision finale saw Wanda trap Agatha in Westview as Agnes, her nosy neighbor persona from earlier in the series, but it's expected that this spell will be broken very quickly when Agatha: Coven of Chaos kicks off in late 2023. In Marvel Comics, Agatha Harkness is an incredibly powerful witch, but is often shown as a friend and mentor to the Scarlet Witch, rather than an adversary.
The MCU's Agatha Harkness still has plenty of room to grow into the ally she is in the comics, particularly since Agatha: Coven of Chaos will introduce new witches who could carry far more sinister intentions than Agatha herself. The residents of Westview will already see Agatha as the hero that saved them from the Scarlet Witch, so Coven of Chaos could see her truly own this title and become a hero in her own right.
