Victoria's health chief warns rising community transmission cases could delay timetable for easing COVID-19 restrictions after spike in fresh cases

Professor Sutton warned that the state’s plan to ease restrictions was being reviewed on a daily basis to ensure limits were not increased too early.

Rosstown Community, a 53-bed residential aged care home in Carnegie in Melbourne's south-east run by Glen Eira City Council, remains in lockdown, with residents confined to their rooms while testing and deep cleaning is undertaken. Seven contractors – including security guards – employed at Carlton's Rydges on Swanston hotel and one Rydges employee have tested positive, along with eight close contacts of those infected.
