During sentencing, the rights group indicated that veteran legal eagle Barry Roux would lead the appeal process.
Rights group AfriForum said on Friday it had started the process to appeal the conviction of Pieter Doorewaard and Phillip Schutte for killing teenager Matlhomola Mosweu in Coligny.
North West High Court Judge Ronnie Hendricks sentenced Doorewaard, 28, and Schutte, 35, to an effective 18 and 23 years in jail respectively for the killing of Mosweu, aged 16.
