Image via IG American Youtuber and philanthropist Mr Beast has spent over eight months building 100 wells across the African continent. Image via IG “We’ve spent over 8 months working on tomorrow’s video and it’s the greatest thing I’ve ever done!” he teased.
After posting his video many social media users have trolled the YouTuber and accused him of using the struggles of underprivileged people for personal gain.In response to the negativity the YouTuber tweeted: “I already know I’m going to get cancelled because I uploaded a video helping people, and to be 100% clear, I don’t care. I’m always going to use my channel to help people and try to inspire my audience to do the same”.
Here’s the thing about Mr Beast. I don’t necessarily think he’s a bad person. I think he means well and actually thinks he’s doing a good thing. But here’s the issue. It just feels exploitative. No one is “cancelling” you for “helping people”, you’ve received extremely light criticism in the past for the way you’ve monetized “kindness” content that some vulnerable people found to be exploitative.
