In just the past few weeks, the world witnessed celebrations in Gabon in response to yet another coup d'état. It's not surprising to see the Gabonese people applaud change after over a half a century of the self-serving Bongo dynasty and its attendant corruption, but it's hard to imagine that a coup is a step in the right direction toward an open society.
