Cape Town City did Kaizer Chiefs a huge favour in the title race as they beat Mamelodi Sundowns 3-2 at Loftus Versfeld
Sundowns remain six points behind Chiefs with six games remaining in the dash to the R15 million Absa Premiership title. The result means out of the eight league games the two teams have played against each other, the Citizens have won five while Sundowns have only won two.In fact, in their 11 games in all competition, the Capetonians have been dominant overall, with Sundowns only getting three wins while City have seven wins.
Edmilson Dove scored an own goal in the 45th minute while Keletso Makgalwa grabbed an injury time strike which was not enough in the end.It was a heated affair on the touchline as well, with Pitso Mosimane exchanging some unpleasant words with the City technical bench. Perhaps what frustrated Mosimane more was another lacklustre performance from his team since the return of the PSL.In most games it was their loud fanbase that cheered the team to victory at the ground.
They were, of course, also the away team under the new normal of the “PSL bubble” to finish the season.
