College scandal: David Sidoo pleads not guilty in Boston court
Vancouver businessman David Sidoo pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit fraud Friday during a court appearance in Boston.
He was represented by Las Vegas-based lawyers David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, and Boston-based lawyer Martin Weinberg. He also brought along a publicist, according to a local court reporter. Chesnoff told reporters outside the courtroom, “We are going to address all of the allegations in court,” according to a Boston Globe report.Chesnoff has represented high-profile clients such as soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, former rap mogul Suge Knight and the family of pop star Michael Jackson, according to recent media reports.
In an indictment unsealed on Tuesday, former U.S. college tennis player Mark Riddell is accused of conspiring with William Rick Singer, who has admitted to taking in US$25 million in payments to facilitate faked test scores and bribe college officials between 2011 and 2018. It’s also alleged that Sidoo arranged to have someone secretly take his Canadian high school graduation exam, with Riddell posing as Dylan to take the exam in June 2012.
