As the 2023 General elections are fast approaching, There have been calls for a third force following the largely poor performance of the two major
political parties in managing the country’s resources. A former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission , Prof Attahiru Jega, recently asked Nigerians to reject the ruling All Progressives Congress and the leading opposition Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 general polls.
No! Nigeria does not necessarily need a third force to effect change. What the country needs is a review for the document upon which the country is being run, our constitution. Many bright minds who have perused the 1999 constitution driving this country have come out to call the document a fraud. Many people have challenged the legality of this legal document. There are so many loopholes embedded in the document which afford public mismanagement without any corresponding consequences.
