An Adams County couple are ready to provide free equine therapy for veterans after two years of preparing
ADAMS COUNTY, Pa. — It was 2022 when Heather and Mike Semies bought their property in Butler Township.“I’m a lifelong horse person and recognize the power of equine presence in the world," said Heather."It grounds me for sure, so we kind of combined our passions to Willow Rock Warriors and provide free equine assistive therapy for veterans, first responders and their families.”
"It's an experiential type of therapy where they can discover their selves," Wolfe described."It's nonverbal because horses give that nonverbal communication so it's a great way for them to connect in a different way than traditional talk therapy." “The biggest thing that has to be done is the connection between the veteran and the animal, whether it is a service dog or a horse,” Turner said.She’s helped Turner through his therapy journey for years and is now anticipated to help other veterans like him.
