A decision has been taken after a linesman appeared to elbow a Liverpool star in the face during the Reds' 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League on the weekend. SLInt MORE:
Scotland international Andy Robertson seemed to take an elbow to the face just after the whistle for half-time blew on Sunday.
The 29-year-old had approached linesman Constantine Hatzidakis in protest of a decison during the first half before the match official raised his arm, catching the left-back on the chin. Professional Game Match Officials Limited , which provides the match officials for all EPL fixtures, has since issued a statement revealing that the referee will not work while the English FA looks into the matter.
"PGMOL will not be appointing Constantine Hatzidakis to fixtures in any of the competition it serves whilst the Football Association investigates the incident involving the assistant referee and Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson at Anfield," PGMOL said, according toRobertson responded to the incident by angrily surrounding the referees on duty before being held back by his teammates.
The former Hull City defender received a yellow card as he made his way down the tunnel, while Hatzidakis continued to work the line when the game resumed.
