Mashaba says the next Joburg Mayor should be able to serve its residents well.
Action SA leader Herman Mashaba says the party cannot dictate to the African National Congress whether or not its regional Chairperson Dada Morero should be put forward as a candidate for the City Joburg mayorship.
Morero is expected to replace Al Jamah councillor Kabelo Gwamanda as Mayor, while Action SA is expected to assume the Speaker position in the council. “Obviously, we’ve not discussed with the ANC who they must put in as the mayor. The only thing we said was that the current mayor which we don’t want. We’ve got to prove that I think our caucus leader has already indicated that this job is way beyond his capacity. So we are not going to dictate to the ANC who they must put forward. The only thing we said to the ANC is please give us someone who can serve the residents of the City of Johannesburg.
One of our key conditions to support a new government in Johannesburg is the removal of Mayor Gwamanda, who has dismally failed in his role.…“We said to the ANC you guys you had this mayor to play a role. But this job is way beyond him so please the only way we are prepared to support you we need the removal of this mayor.
