'Acting Public Protector closed a probe against Thandi Modise without interviewing me' - complainant
Acting Public Protector Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka has cleared former National Assembly Speaker Thandi Modise of allegations that she unduly delayed investigating a member of Parliament and staff members.
SARA is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to the advancement and development of technical and production skills and knowledge of young people. The gist of Nyathela’s complaint against the department's officials was that they failed to comply with the terms of a settlement agreement, which was concluded by the Public Protector, SARA and the department.
Questions were sent to Gcaleka and her office, but a response had not been received at the time of writing.City Press has also seen an email dated December 30 2022, which Nyathela sent to Gcaleka and her colleagues, raising the matter. It is unfortunate, that the Public Protector SA and its investigator chose to ignore SARA's documentation evidence [paper trail] and issue a closing report without even interviewing the complainant.
In the email, he alleged that currently the very same thing was happening again with Parliament and its committee on arts and culture deliberately failing to hold the National Arts Council and its chairperson accountable for"willfully presenting dishonest statements to Parliament on the May 27 2022, regarding the implementation of the remedial action of the Public Protector".
