A 22-year-old man from Kimberley in Northern Cape, South Africa, who survived a severe acid attack last year, speaks about his ongoing recovery. Despite the challenges and trauma he endured, he remains positive. He sustained third-degree burns on his neck and upper body, requiring doctors to use skin from his thighs to patch the wounds. He lost his ear and has difficulty hearing. He also struggles with using his arm.

The victim says the wounds have caused him significant physical and emotional challenges. Although it has been the toughest year of his life, he expresses gratitude for the gift of life and hopes for the future. His family supports his recovery and is eagerly awaiting the possibility of him receiving an artificial ear in March
