ACDP wants to stop Covid-19 vaccinations for children
For the past three weeks, children aged between 12 and 17 have been able to get their single dose of the Pfizer vaccine in South Africa – without their parents’ consent.
But the department announced on October 19, through a media statement, that the programme would go ahead as planned on October 20. Meanwhile, a panel of experts in a Discovery Health webinar on Friday emphasised that vaccinations were safe for children and that the dangers that Covid-19 posed to them should not be underestimated.
She also emphasised that the vaccinations would help the teenagers and younger children to lead more normal lives again.
