Breaking local news in Boksburg
One of the Boksburg North SAPS police officers accused of stealing copper cable is now a designated firearm officer at the station. She is reportedly still in training and will mostly deal with firearm applications and renewals.
A well-placed source working closely with the police, who wished to remain anonymous, said it is concerning that Ndlovu, an accused in a serious case that has not been finalised in court, has been appointed to this office.Boksburg North SAPS station commander Colonel Mack Mngomezulu declined to comment further on the matter but confirmed that Ndlovu and her co-accused, Sergeant Solomon Hlengane, are back on duty.
“All I can say is that the court matter is still taking its course, and an internal process was followed,” he told the Boksburg Advertiser. Ndlovu was arrested at work on February 1 by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate with Hlengane for allegedly stealing copper cables, defeating the ends of justice and common robbery. The pair made their latest court appearance on September 28, but the owner of the copper was not in court, and the matter was postponed to November 23.
