PSYCHOLOGICAL drama film 'About Us But Not About Us' took home most of the awards during Tuesday night's Gabi ng Parangal of the first-ever Summer Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) held at the New Frontier Theater, Quezon City.
The film not only won the Best Picture Award but swept all technical categories, as well including Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Production Design, Best Musical Score and Best Sound.Romnick Sarmenta bested six other nominees – including co-star Elijah Canlas – as he bagged the Best Actor award for his performance as Ericson, gay man who worked as a literature professor.Filmmaker Jun Robles Lana won Best Director, while Canlas took home the Special Jury Prize Award.
'KaladKaren, meanwhile, received the Best Supporting Actress for her performance in 'Here Comes The Groom.' She has made MMFF history as the first transwoman to be nominated and win in the category.Dedicating her win to the LGBTQIA+ community around the world, she shared in her acceptance speech, 'I want to remind all of you that we are more than enough.''Mga batang beki, huwag kayong matakot maging kayo.
