Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers ended speculation Wednesday by announcing what his plans are for the upcoming season.
“Also, the reality of the situation,” Rodgers said. “It is what it is. The Packers would like to move on. They’ve let me know that in so many words. They let other people know that in direct words. Because I still have that fire, and I want to play, I’d like to play in New York. It’s just a matter of getting that done at this point.”
The stars seemed to be aligning for Rodgers to make the revelation ahead of his appearance on McAfee’s show Wednesday. ESPN reported on Tuesday that he gave New York a list of free agents he wanted them to pursue that included wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. That list also reportedly included three former Packers – receivers Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb and tight end Marcedes Lewis.
While the move brings an excitement to the Jets that hasn’t been seen in some time, it also marks a drastic change of direction for Green Bay which is now set to move forward with Jordan Love at quarterback. He led the team to a win in Super Bowl XLV and was named the game’s MVP. He is a four-time NFL MVP, and a 10-time Pro Bowl pick. Rodgers has thrown for 59,055 yards with 475 touchdowns and 105 interceptions across his career.
