Temperatures will be in the mid-70s today and the upper 70s Thursday.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The first of two systems this week is departing early this morning. Wet weather has all but ended here in Central Alabama outside of a little bit of light rain in Chambers, Chilton, Coosa, Elmore, Lee, and Tallapoosa counties.
As a result of the sunshine, high temperatures will be warmer in the mid-70s today and the upper 70s tomorrow. It wouldn’t shock me to see a few locations hit 80 degrees tomorrow. The week’s second system will arrive late Friday and bring widespread rain and some thunderstorms to Central and South Alabama. The rain will move into West Alabama first early Friday afternoon, then spread into the River Region around 3-5 p.m. and finally East Alabama after 6 p.m.
The Storm Prediction Center has the entirety of the WSFA 12 News area in a severe weather risk Friday evening through Saturday morning. Most of us are in a level 1-of-5 “very low” risk, with South Alabama in a slightly higher level 2-of-5 risk. So flooding is something we’re watching out for during this part of our forecast. Rainfall totals will range from 1″ to 3″ across Central Alabama. Some isolated totals of more than 3″ will be possible.
