Royal BC Museum exhibit showcases resilience of Vietnamese-Canadian immigrants
Posted: Mar. 25, 2023 6:22PMhas purchased two paintings from Island artist Chrystal Phan. Her light-hearted family portraits convey the confusion of growing up second-generation Vietnamese-Canadian.
The free online ‘Learning Portal’ on the Museum’s website has a virtual gallery of Phan’s paintings, as well as stories of the immigrant experience in B.C. Chrystal Phan’s parents journeyed to Canada after the Vietnam War. They left the coast of Vietnam on a small boat and were lucky to survive the harrowing journey.
