Although Richard Rider is a human, not a mutant, his heroic heart has inspired him to fight alongside Ororo and the other mutant heroes, ultimately ending in his apparent demise.
X-Men: Red #16, from writer Al Ewing and artists Yıldıray Çınar and Federico Blee, sees Genesis and her children continue their assault on Arakko's Port Prometheus, and after Storm fights back against the First Horsemen, Nova dives in front of a deadly plague arrow from Pestilence to save Ororo. Since becoming one of Arakko's heroes Richard has acted a core member of Storm's Brotherhood, developing a close bond with Sunspot, making him one of the few non-mutant allies of the Brotherhood alongside Craig from NASA. X-Men: Red #16 sees Storm easily defeat the Horsemen War and Famine before the disgusting Pestilence shoots a plague arrow at Ororo, which Nova dives directly in front of.
