A little simplification goes a long way for Raptors and their bench woes Via Mike_Ganter
We got a little spoiled here a year ago with Scottie Barnes and the mostly steady progress he made over the course of the season on his way to NBA Rookie of the Year honours.
“I feel more comfortable, we’re kinda halfway through the season so I have a lot of games under my belt,” Koloko said. “I just feel more comfortable, I know what I have to do better and I know what the team needs from me even more now and I try to do the best at it.”“I just think that he looks like he’s moving a lot better,” Nurse said after Sunday’s win over Portland.
For Sunday’s game, Nurse went with Koloko and Juancho Hernangomez as his first subs off the bench. How long that remains the case is very much up in the air.“I think that we’re probably at our best when Chris and Precious get some more elevated minutes and can do what they can do at a high level,” Nurse said.Seven-year veteran Pascal Siakam was not about to wait on a rookie.
“It just feels like we had to do everything,” Siakam added, recalling his own rookie experience. “They don’t do anything. Like even carrying the bags. Nothing. I remember we had to bring the gear to the hotels. I had to wake up at like 8 a.m. every time.
