The Calgary Flames need a head coach. As GM Craig Conroy starts his search, Postmedia’s Wes Gilbertson suggests 12 potential candidates.
From a hat-trick of in-house hopefuls to a few of Conroy’s former teammates, and presented in alphabetical order, here are a dozen could-be candidates for Calgary’s coaching vacancy:Twenty-some years ago, Boughner and Conroy served as co-captains in Calgary.
Conroy and Halpern were teammates for a few weeks in 2004 while representing the U.S. at the World Cup of Hockey.Huska has been overseeing the Flames’ defence and penalty-kill for the past half-decade, although his stay at the Saddledome nearly ended last summer when he was reportedly the runner-up in the Detroit Red Wings’ coaching search.
