'A different Azana': Afro-pop artist gives insight on new record IGAGU
The record is out on 27 October, but she has already released a few singles in the lead-up to the project.
On my first album, I was a 19-year-old girl who had never experienced disappointment in love. And I think three years later, I've experienced certain things in life and I'm ready to talk about them in a song."I feel like if you work with the same people for too long, you become predictable."Part of her job is meeting people and networking so they can bring out different sides of her.
The album's songs are also sequenced in a way that tells a story through the different topics explored.Azana started releasing music professionally three years ago but has been recording music since she was 14. "In our culture, we believe in ancestors. I also do believe that a gift from a family member has passed on. My mother's mom, my grandmother, was a great singer. So, I think I also took that from her genetically.
