A critical sensor linked to the two fatal Boeing 737 Max crashes had been flagged to the FAA more than 200 times, report claims | BISouthAfrica
The angle of attack sensor, which measures a plane's angle in the sky, was flagged in 216 incident reports to the FAA. These reports outlined cases where the sensor failed or had to be replaced or fixed, and in some cases the planes had to make emergency landings.
Boeing also may have been aware of the"potential for the sensors to cause problems in its planes" after the FAA sent instructions about some of its planes that had the sensor before the 737 Max was released, according to CNN. The planes will not be allowed to return to the skies until this update is approved by the FAA and other regulators around the world.
