The auction, which includes a selection of visiting card cases from the collection of British collector and businessman Richard J Stanes’, opened on Monday, 18th March.

“Strauss & Co specialists have selected each item for its craftsmanship and appeal to collectors. The selection includes a variety of pieces from different countries, styles, and periods, offering prospective buyers a varied selection of furniture, ceramics, and silver at inviting entry bids,” explains Jill van Dugteren, Decorative Arts Coordinator at Strauss & Co.

The sale includes a mid-19th-century Italian table by the Falcini brothers, inlaid with mother-of-pearl, ebony, and marquetry . It features a blooming floral centrepiece and rests on a baluster base. Additionally, there is a late 19th-century Napoleon III centre table with foliate inlay ; a set of ten iconic No. 4 Café Daum bentwood chairs by Michael Thonet and a café table by Thonet .

The highlight of the sale is a George III silver tray with a Greek key border, alternating shell motifs, and pierced side handles created by Benjamin Smith III in London in 1819 . It has.
