“We found all these people who do, like, school assemblies,” Sosnick said. “And that’s how we found Ranger Eric”—Eric Powers, who drives in from Long Island with a van full of cages and crates. “No animals have ever been harmed,” Kandel noted. “The last show, the dove actually laid an egg backstage.” Rufat Agayev, a comedian in a Yankees T-shirt and a Nascar hat, stared at the giant snake warily. “I mean, I would do it, but I just came off a back injury last week,” he said.
