More than 50 cars were involved in a massive pileup in Chicago amid snow and icy conditions
The incident, which required 12 ambulances, occurred early Wednesday on the Kennedy Expressway near North Avenue. Multiple collisions lead to the transportation of 14 people to hospitals with predominantly minor injuries, according to the Chicago Fire Department. Forty-five others were evaluated but refused transportation.Traffic on the expressway has been light due to coronavirus, said Larry Langford, director of media affairs for the Chicago Fire Department.

Vehicles started sliding into each other. There were 53 cars involved, Langford said. By around 10 a.m., all lanes were reopened, according to CNN affiliate WBBM.
