A Philadelphia motorist was charged after driving while his license was suspended, a city spokesman said.
Noah Cohen | NJ Advance Media for NJ.comJohn Francis Wilson Jr., of Ocean City, walked out from between two parked cars and was struck around 11:30 a.m. Thursday by the side-view mirror of a 2013 Ford Explorer traveling northbound on the 700 block of Asbury Avenue, according to a city spokesman.
Wilson died from his injuries at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, spokesman Doug Bergen said in a statement. The Ford driver, Douglas Montealegre, 33, of Philadelphia, was driving with a suspended driver’s license, according to the statement. Montealegre was charged with operating a motor vehicle while his license was suspended involving an accident resulting in serious bodily injury.
Bergen said the Ocean City police and Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Unit were investigating.
