Eight people were hospitalized including seven firefighters after a fire broke out in a Bronx building. The fire has since been placed under control. naveencbs2ny reports.
Witnesses said they saw flames and smoke coming from the building on the corner and it spread to the one next door.
The flames were intense, and there was heavy smoke coming from both buildings. At one point, the roof on one of the buildings began to sag. There was a partial collapse, and all firefighters were ordered off that roof for safety. Dheon Kharran, the owner of that building, told CBS New York's Naveen Dhaliwal there are three apartments - one on each floor - along with a salon on the bottom. He said, to his knowledge, his five tenants made it out safe.
FDNY members are continuing to operate at a 3-alarm fire at 1103 Castle Hill Avenue in the Bronx. Use caution in the area.
