During her time there, West solved math problems by hand before programming a computer to do it for her. She worked on projects that related to Pluto and Neptune, acted as project manager for a U.S. Navy ocean surveillance satellite and helped create a GPS service." and one of the most regarded Black scientists of all time. Her contributions to science were often overlooked because of her race and gender.
