6 Deer Park HS seniors named to 2023 Majestic Court
Maggie Hefner and Eduardo Mascarenas were winners of the Spirit Award at Deer Park High School's Majestic Court pageant.Six Deer Park High School seniors including twins Hannah and Maggie Hefner were recently selected for the school's 2023 Majestic Court.
Maggie Hefner also was the female winner for the Spirit Award voted by the contestants, and Eduardo Mascarenas was the male winner for that honor. “We had more than 600 people in attendance and raised $6,000 for the senior class,” said Lori Porterfield, the pageant coordinator and secretary to Assistant Principal Marc Milliorn, who was the event’s advisor.A varsity football team captain, Canales was named this year’s offensive MVP, an honor he also won when he played on the freshman team. He received a student leadership award and an academic honors award and played basketball one season.
Until 1996, the pageant was known as Most Beautiful/Most Handsome. In 1997, due to the growth in size of the senior class, the event was changed to Majestic Court, with three senior boys and three senior girls selected for the court.
