South African manufacturers are looking to move to Industry 4.0, and increasingly keen to harness AI to support automation. However, legacy networks could slow progress.
This is according to Gary Woolley, Chief Commercial Officer at Comsol, who says: “Traditional networks are holding manufacturers back. There is growing local interest in how machine learning and AI can support safer, more efficient operations, enable proactive decision making and improve revenues. But to get the true value of AI, you need the right infrastructure in place.”
Comsol Licensed Private 5G is scalable, customisable, and supported by exceptional SLAs, he says. “In addition, our cloud-based management system simplifies network operations, offering a user-friendly interface for everything from SIM card provisioning to real-time performance monitoring. This is particularly useful in manufacturing, where quick decisions can be driven by data analytics.
“Real-time condition monitoring is another area where Private 5G excels. With instant data transmission from smart sensors to centralised systems, maintenance teams can monitor equipment health continuously and be alerted to a potential machine failure before it happens.”
