50th anniversary celebration at Glanmore House this weekend.
It will be an exciting day Saturday at Glanmore House as the National Historic Site celebrates two big milestones: the 50th anniversary of its opening as a museum and 140 years since its construction.
The public is invited to bring picnic blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy entertainment by the Belleville Concert Band, Fiddle Earth, Jennifer Brant and Cue the Funk.Andy Forgie will perform during the welcoming ceremony at 1 p.m. and cake and lemonade will be served. Wakeling has worked at Glanmore for 23 years and says a lot has changed at the museum since it opened.“We have done a lot of interior restoration so the historic house looks closer to what it would have looked like originally than it ever has before. We’re trying to incorporate more access to some of the rooms so the spaces that you have to look into a room has been made larger.”
You may want to check out a special immersive exhibit in the lower level of the house that recreates a rec room and kitchen from 1973, the year the museum opened.
