De Ruyter has landed a new job; experts sound the alarm on changing weather patterns; government still hogging electricity; and Cape Town says no thanks to new driving laws.
Former Eskom chief executive Andre de Ruyter has reportedly landed a new job – as a visiting senior fellow at Yale University in the United States. According to reports, he has been specifically requested to talk about green energy and the Just Energy Transition as part of his lectures. De Ruyter resigned from Eskom in late 2022 and left ahead of his expected final date of making explosive allegations of corruption at the utility, pointing the blame at ANC politicians.
[: Electricity minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says that vacant offices and government buildings are some of the biggest energy hogs in the country, and they need to become more efficient to avoid higher stages of load shedding. He called on South Africans at large to become more efficient in their energy use but said it is vital for the government to lead by example.
