Here are the highs and lows as the 49ers took a 7-3 deficit into halftime of their home finale against the Houston Texans.
SANTA CLARA — Here are the highs and lows as the 49ers trail 7-3 at halftime of their home finale against the Houston Texans:Trey Lance’s first home start did not open impressively, and after three mediocre series, he began their fourth possession with an interception. That ruined their best opening field position .
Lance is 10-of-13 for 105 yards and a 67.8 passer rating. All four of his carries came on the opening two possessions, and he took a shot to the ribs by safety Justin Reid on one of those runs. With 1:26 before halftime, after a three-and-out series, Lance and the offense headed toward the bench amid boos from the restless 49ers Faithful. A Texans three-and-out gave the Niners one more shot at a closing drive.
Things didn’t go so well as he tried covering Brandin Cooks on third-and-goal from the 8. Warner got turned around and slipped while Cooks hauled in an 8-yard touchdown pass to put the 49ers behind 7-0 with 1:57 until halftime.
