49ers camp: Garoppolo steps out of shadows but no threat to Lance
Now with camps underway, old questions persist. Will he land in Seattle if the 49ers’ eventually release him before his $24 million salary kicks in next month? Will the Atlanta Falcons, New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers or any other team re-consider? No one knows, not even him, though he confidently expects he’ll soon be in a NFL-emblazened uniform again and not just benign workout clothes.

Ryans’ defensive calls have been aggressive, such as an all-out blitz Wednesday that Lance saw coming and unleashed a deep pass down the left sideline to Deebo Samuel in one-on-coverage. The problem: Samuel stopped his route short. After Lance’s pass fell incomplete near the goal line, he approached Samuel near the sideline to clear up their miscommunication.
