An occupant of the home tried to extinguish the blaze, but it had grown too big.
Saskatoon fire crews were called to the 3100 block of Milton Street around 2:30 a.m. on Monday after a report of a house on fire with flames showing at the rear, the Saskatoon Fire Department said in a news release.
The two people in the home made it out safely and were not injured. According to the fire department, one occupant reported being woken after hearing “hail” like sounds — noise that was from the fire burning in the exterior wall. An attempt to extinguish the fire was made by the occupant, but the fire was too large.
