UPDATE: Four firefighters and one civilian injured in West Valley City construction site accident yesterday; One remains hospitalized
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — One firefighter was still in the hospital Tuesday and three others have been released after they were injured in an accident at a construction site, along with the already injured patient they were helping.
As the members of West Valley City Fire Department were bringing the patient down a staircase, it collapsed and injured all four of them, along with the patient. One of the first responders — a 36-year-old fire captain who is also a paramedic — was airlifted to a hospital with multiple broken bones and other injuries. They remained hospitalized as of Tuesday afternoon.
