A 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck across the Ethiopian Rift Valley, west of Lake Awash, Mount Fentale area, and in the town of Metehara, sending some residents running for shelter. The tremor resulted in damage to buildings and cracks in the ground in the affected areas and there were no reports of injuries or damage.
