Lancashire Police have revealed some stark statistics surrounding their drink and drug driving clampdown around Christmastime

.

The remainder of the 3,000 were either under the influence of both alcohol and drugs or were considered to be unfit to drive through drink and drugs - meaning they have attempted to get behind the wheel whilst under the influence. For alcohol, the legal limit is 35 micrograms of alcohol in 100mls of breath, but some of the people who were stopped had numbers way above the limit.

Under the influence of drugs, a driver was stopped on Garstang Road in Preston and initially, he lied about his name. However, fingerprints soon showed the truth. The driver was also arrested for possession of offensive weapons after several knives were found in the vehicle. Another vehicle had been stopped for a second time, but with a different driver behind the wheel. He was also found to have been drug-driving and was arrested at the scene.
