Andrew is a storm not soon forgotten.
Andrew also brought devastation to the Bahamas before reaching Florida, and it later made another landfall in Louisiana on Aug. 26, 1992, as a Category 3 hurricane. Andrew made its first U.S. landfall on the northern tip of Florida’s Elliot Key at 4:40 a.m. EDT, then made another landfall in mainland Florida at Fender Point in Biscayne National Park at 5:05 a.m., according to the weather service.
