28-year-old pedestrian suffers life-threatening injuries after being hit in crosswalk [Breaking]
A 28-year-old man crossing a street in a marked crosswalk suffered life-threatening injuries early Tuesday when he was hit by a pickup near the boundary of Rolando Park and Redwood Village, police said.
The man was crossing from the southeast corner of 58th Street and University Avenue to the northeast corner when he was struck shortly after 6 a.m., police said. Police said the 31-year-old driver in a Chevrolet Silverado HD2500 was making a left turn from 58th Street onto University when he hit the man. The driver, who was in a marked work truck, called police and remained at the scene after the collision, a police spokesperson said.The injured man was taken to the hospital to be treated for a subdural brain injury, a lung contusion, a broken hip and leg and other injuries, police said.
