.21Savage donates $25,000 to SPLcenter following his ICE detainment

Since only one in six immigrants detained in the Southeast has access to an attorney in removal proceedings, the donation will help make sure that immigrants can get proper legal representation. The SPLC aims to fight hate and bigotry by seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of society. “21 Savage is making this donation public because everyday Americans need to know that ICE is using civil immigration detention as a weapon against immigrants, many of whom, like 21 Savage, have relief from deportation and are able to fix their immigration status," Charles H. Kuck, managing partner of Kuck Baxter Immigration LLC, said in a press release.
The U.K.-born, U.S.-raised rapper was arrested by DEA agents on Feb. 3 before Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta. He was taken to U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement officials, who detained him and began deportation proceedings for overstaying a visa that expired in 2006.
