musical showcase is a highly anticipated event on the Western Cape calendar, attracting talented learners who showcase their dancing, singing, musical, rap and other talents, in order to win funds for their schools. This year, the competition has attracted a remarkable number of 21 primary, high and special needs schools, including schools from Khayelitsha, setting a new record for the project.

Participating schools stand in line to win their share of R60 000 for their schools. This can be used to upgrade facilities or purchase educational resources. Furthermore, selected participating learners and teachers will receive additional prizes. This campaign, proudly presented by Liberty Promenade, and powered by MTN, is now in its twelfth year, as part of the mall’s social responsibility initiatives.

At the live event on Saturday, 21 October, a panel of judges will select the top performing schools. The winning primary and high schools will receive R20 000 cash and runner-up primary and high schools will win R 10 000 cash. The competition was open to all schools in Mitchells Plain and Khayelitsha.

“Every year, the young participants of the Next Generation musical showcase never cease to amaze us, as they leverage the platform to share their views on issues that affect them and their community in the most creative ways,” said Brenda Bibby, General Manager of Liberty Promenade. “Their vitality, innovation, positive outlook, and exceptional talents leave a lasting impression. We’re confident that the 2023 edition will be equally incredible, and we can’t wait for this year’s event.
