Patton reported a turnout of 40 players at Coastal Academy, a strong showing for a school fielding an 8-man team.
After going 8-2 and winning the Surf League championship last year, Rock Academy has moved up to 11-man football as a member of the Pacific League.“Having the new division does create more options,” said Patton, whose team posted a 9-3 mark last year.The Manzanita League is comprised of seven schools: Borrego Springs, Julian, Horizon Prep, Ocean View Christian, San Pasqual Academy, Warner and West Shores.
Justin McKenzie, coach at San Diego Jewish Academy, reports a turnout of about 20 players two years after it won the CIF 8-man title.
