2 people killed in New Zealand shooting; police lock down part of Auckland

At least two people were killed and multiple people injured in a shooting at a construction site in New Zealand's largest city of Auckland, authorities said on Thursday , with the police saying the shooter was dead and that the risk from the incident was over.

A training session for the Italian team was delayed as players could not get out of their hotel, while the United States team said that all its players and staff had been accounted for and were safe. Police said that the shooter moved through the building site and after reaching the upper levels, he"contained himself within the elevator shaft".
