Two people were injured late Wednesday in a shooting during an apparent drug deal gone wrong outside a Walgreens parking lot in southwest Houston, officials said. Houston police first received a call about a shooting around 9:15 p.m. in the 5300 block of North Braeswood Boulevard and found one man there who had been shot in the shoulder, Lt. Ignacio Izaguirre of the Houston Police Department told On Scene reporters. Not long after, Bellaire police called Houston officers to say they’d pulled over a vehicle with a gunshot victim inside.
Witnesses told investigators two men in a vehicle had met with two others on foot in the parking lot shortly before, Izaguirre said. The men allegedly had been meeting for a drug deal when something went wrong and a shooting happened inside the vehicle. The man with the gunshot wound to the shoulder remained at the scene while another person fled on foot, Izaguirre said. The man in the vehicle stopped by Bellaire police had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and later was taken to a hospital for treatment.
