Two Dallas firefighters were injured Thursday morning battling a fire at the beleaguered site of the former Valley View Center in Far North Dallas.

Two Dallas firefighters were injured Thursday morning battling a fire at the beleaguered site of the formerDallas firefighters responded to the old mall, which occupies 30 acres at the corner of LBJ Freeway and Preston Road, shortly after 4:30 a.m. They encountered “heavy smoke and fire conditions,” Dallas Fire Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said.A group of firefighters became trapped by the fire, Evans said, but were quickly rescued.
Both firefighters were taken to a hospital. Neither injury was considered to be life-threatening, Evans said. Firefighters were still working at the site as of 9 a.m.
